Awesome! This gem is a clear proof that amazing things happen right at the moment you're about to give up. I was about to leave Booksale when I saw this book lying just on top of big HBs, as if it was waiting for me to purchase it. I wanted to shout, cry, jump even but I tried to contain all my happy emotions and did one of the most awkward things I proudly do whenever things like this happen to me - I hugged the book so tight, caressed it, and then hugged it again. I noticed some death stares, alright, but I couldn't care less, at that point, I told myself, these guys are lucky I actually managed to keep it all together, my friends saw me go berserk over a book find and it's not a pleasant thing to witness, and so, that's why I try to keep it... down low. Okay, so going back, I walked to the counter and flashed an evil grin before I paid for this. I'm so weird but whatever, I am so damn happy as well. The best things is, I bought it for only P80. That's less than $2!!!

Thrift Store Haul #1: Julian Barnes's amazing book
I attribute my growing book collection to thrift stores, if not for book sales, bargains and warehouse raids, I think, I wouldn't be able to procure hundreds of books. Buying books, especially when their price is slashed in half! I recently was reminded of that exhilarating feeling of finding a great book in the bargain bin and I realized, it would be nice if I share the experience to everyone from hereon.

Bookworm's Spot #1: Cafe 1771
The Game
Last February (I knoooow, this was in the drafts portion of this blog for almost a year now!), my friends and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a little game of Blind Date with a Book.
I led the event by putting in a competition we played online (that only proved my friends are competitive!) and some game of Q&A as we wait for our food.
The winner or 'The Victor' as we all call it (the one with most number of points) takes home a prize from me and the owner of the book he/she will pick will be the second winner who will also bag the same loot - a hardbound copy of Alex Gilvarry's From the Memoirs of A Non-Enemy Combatant.
The Books
I asked them to cover their books in white, red or pink. All's well except for one. Oh wells.
The Books Unwrapped
Yndie (The Victor) gave away her well-loved copy of Just So Stories to the second winner Phoebe who in turn handed one of her prized possession, Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart to Yndie.
Anna's book of insects and magic went to Zim.
My own book, Running With Scissors went to the person I intended it to go, Arbin while I in turn took Like Water for Chocolate home from Zim. Serendipitous because he's been nagging me to get his book since day one.
Clai's book, If On A Winter's Night A Traveler (oh I want this too!) went to the Raechella she meanwhile got Kwesi's Middlesex.
The biggest book went to Anna!

The Place
I was scouting online for a place to do this fun occasion when I found Cafe 1771. Aside from it's cozy and dainty interiors, the one the got me was its library themed decors.

Book Haul #2
I'm a hoarder - that I'm very sure of - and I will admit that anytime.
I've been meaning to post all these photos but because of too many reasons (misplaced card reader, slow internet, etc.) I only had the time to do it now. I wouldn't remember this if not for author Mina V. Esguerra's tweet about how some other people throw snarky comments at book haul posts. I spend my salary on books. So, what?
So here are most of the books I've acquired recently.

I love going to NBS sales. It's a book hoarder's heaven but unfortunately, the one I've gone to this time isn't as big as the others. I wonder how I got this many books though.
I've been meaning to post all these photos but because of too many reasons (misplaced card reader, slow internet, etc.) I only had the time to do it now.
